Dry Shampoo: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

Hey everyone! Thanks for stopping by today. If you don’t follow me on Instagram, you can here!

I don’t know if you’re like me, but I have FINALLY learned that I cannot wash my hair every day. It totally kills my color, dries it out, and becomes a burden.  If there’s one thing I’m not a fan of, it’s oily hair. So, this is where my BFF dry shampoo has come in.

My routine with dry shampoo (just an example):

–Wash hair on Sunday

–Monday morning: spray just near roots & close to face (HINT: Hair will have white spots if you don’t hold can far enough away, so hold at least 6-8 inches away from hair!)

–Monday night: spray all over hair just before bed

–Tuesday morning: flip head over & spray all over. touch up areas that are greasy…around the face, near the roots

–Tuesday night: usually I don’t use any dry shampoo here unless I’m going somewhere, because the next morning I will wash my hair.

–Wednesday morning: wash hair

–Wednesday night: REPEAT dry shampoo process

That wraps up my routine. I can totally go more in-depth if you need me to! Just email me ;)

Now, the products. I have used 7 total products. Here’s the 6 products that I did not love:

ShopStyle

Honestly, the most expensive ones were my least favorite. They made my hair gummy & did not smell lovely.

So the winner? AND also the BEST news of the day: It’s CHEAP! Like the cheapest.

shampoo

Psssst! Instant Spray Shampoo, $5.19

Why I love it? It smells like coconut lime…it’s got that beachy smell & really makes my hair fresh. It does not make my hair gummy or dry. It just makes it feel freshly shampooed. And I can even curl my hair after I use this. It’s perfect. And that price? Can’t beat it! Don’t waste your money on $20 bottles of other stuff. Seriously, go snatch up 3 or 4 bottles, because this stuff is amazing!

PS, don’t forget to enter the two awesome giveaways I have going on right now!

  1. I’ve been on the hunt for a great dry shampoo as well- I usually use mine every other day, but I’ve never thought of doing it before bed. I tried the tresemme one first but it made my hair feel awful, then I was using the drybar one for some time but realized it was kind of gross too- most recently I have been using Klorane Gentle Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk. It smells amazing, is easy to use, takes the grease out of my hair, and I can run my fingers through my hair without feeling nasty. I will definitely have to try this other one though, its much cheaper!

  2. Pssst is my favorite, too! I love your routine. Someone told me I was weird for using dry shampoo as much as I do, but I love it! Haha.
I’ve started using “Dove” dry shampoo because they don’t sell Pssst in my town anywhere, and I actually really like it! I’ve also used the Herbel Essence (Sp?) in the orange bottle and it is faaaaabulous!

  3. I like the Suave one too. Your routine sounds kind of like mine. I will have to give this flavor a try. Thanks for sharing.

  4. Cool. I’ve never heard of dry shampoo. I’ve always had to wash my hair everyday because after about 24 hours, it looks greasy. I’ll have to try this. . . :)

    1. Thanks girl!!! Try this! And hey, if it doesn’t work…at least you didn’t spend too much! :) I will for sure linkup!

  5. Great tips!! I can’t wash my hair everyday but the scalp does get oily by day 2 , I recently started using dry shampoo and love it. I have not tried Pssst yet but will next time I see it.
Great routine, I never thought to spray hair before bed. Definitely going to try that!!
