Rules To Live By

Hey y’all! SO sorry that I have been MIA for so long. Life got majorly busy. As this year draws to a close, I wanted to share something I’ve been working on…my list of rules to live by. Some of them aren’t so much rules but more like a statement.

If you know me, you know I love to make lists. You would also know that I love to watch NCIS. If you watch this show, you know that Gibbs has a list of rules and I think it would be a great idea to have my own list. Here’s what I have come up with so far:

1. Times change, people don’t.

I remember hearing this quote back in high school from one of my speech teachers and it didn’t really resonate with me until lately. I truly believe it though. Stop and think about it, people in your life, did they really change? Or was it just the situation around them?

2. Sleep is overrated. You can sleep when you’re dead.

Talk about a lesson I learned a lot while in pharmacy school…this. Sleep is definitely not something I am used to getting enough of. But at the end of the day, I want to be able to say that I don’t have any regrets. I would much rather be busy than bored!

3. Never burn a bridge.

If I could tell anyone younger than me one lesson, it would be this. You will NEVER know who you will come across in your life. And you never know when they will cross paths with you again. Be kind to everyone. It will serve you well, I promise.

4. Always trust your gut.

I’ve had to make some pretty big life decisions lately, and this is a piece of advice that I’ve been trying to follow. No one knows you better than yourself…if you have a gut feeling about something, it’s for a reason. Always trust your gut instinct.

5. Next man up.

This is so true in the workplace. You cannot control everything that happens around you. But what you can control is your attitude. “Next man up” is a way of saying to be prepared for what may be thrown your way and put a smile on while doing it!

Now I want to know, what would be on your list of “rules to live by”? Let me know in the comments below.

XO,

Rebekah
