Life Update: October 2016

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you have all had great weekends. My Razorbacks & my Dallas Cowboys both won this weekend, so I’m waking up smiling ;) I take football very seriously. I thought I would write a “life update” post and tell you all what I’ve been up to lately. One of my favorite things is reading blogs that contain real life info. I love seeing how people in different parts of the country live and what everyone does on a daily basis and for fun. So here we go…

Places I’ve Been Exploring

As you read last week, I wrote about Fayetteville. I haven’t taken any other trips lately, but I did decide to explore locally to take a few pictures. I stayed in Northwest Arkansas, and the scenery did not disappoint. I think it’s easy to wish I lived somewhere else. Lately, I have been questioning whether I made the right move after pharmacy school. I think I also have to realize that God has a plan. For right now, it’s Northwest Arkansas for me and that is just fine. Here are a few photos I took:

swinging bridge, arkansas, haggards ford, fall, rebekaheliz

blue hydrangea, rebekaheliz, flower, blue, fall

Plans I’ve Been Anticipating

I’m so excited, because this month I’m headed to Texas Tech Homecoming with Ricci. Did we go to Texas Tech? No. Are we in any way affiliated with Texas Tech? Also no. But have you seen Texas Tech’s head football coach? Kliff is hot. That’s really all you need to know. We are on the third row right behind the bench, so don’t worry…I will provide you all with some pictures of the game him. Also, it’s super fun to get out of town and have a weekend away. I’m young, I’m single and I want to travel. We will also be flying in & out of Dallas and we all know that’s my favorite city. Do we already have brunch planned for that Sunday? Yes.

As far as November goes, Jenn is headed to Arkansas to visit us! I’m excited to reunite with my BFF’s. If you want to read more about our last trip together, check out my Nashville recap. It’s fall y’all, so I can’t wait to celebrate cooler temps! It’s also possible that I might head to Dallas for the Cowboys game on Thanksgiving. We will see how it plays out and if dad feels up to it.

Shows I’ve Been Watching

For me, fall TV is a welcome change to the lame summer television shows. On Mondays, I’ve been watching The Big Bang Theory & parts of Dancing with the Stars. There is no way in the world that I can sit down for 2 hours and watch a show, so usually I just watch Maks dance. On Tuesdays, it’s all about NCIS. If you know me in real life, there isn’t much else that needs to be said. This is the 14th season, and Michael Weatherly said goodbye at the end of last season. It was almost “McDreamy like”, but they didn’t kill him off so he can come back (hopefully). Also, be sure to catch Chrisley Knows Best on Tuesdays if you want a good laugh. It’s absolutely hilarious. On Thursdays, I have recently started watching Project Runway. I’m late to this year’s party, so I’m playing catch up. I have a serious crush on Zac Posen, so it doesn’t hurt that he’s a judge this year. He is my favorite designer of all time. And for the weekend, you know I’m all about football. Do y’all watch any of these shows?

Beauty Products I’ve Been Using

I only threw this category in while I’m sitting here looking at my hair glistening in the light from my lamp. I decided I had to share the new shampoo I’ve been using. I saw this Biolage shampoo in the Ulta ad this week, and I decided to try it. A few years ago (when I was washing my hair daily), there’s no way I would have purchased a $25 shampoo. However, since I wash my hair twice a week (maybe three if need be), I decided to bite the bullet. I have worked HARD for 2 years growing my hair out. My hair is pretty hard to work with…meaning that it gets SO SO tangly. Trust me, I’ve tried everything. The wet brush, the detangler, the leave-in shampoo. I have come to terms with it :) Naturally, my hair is wavy and thick. I have grown it out for one simple fact: the look when I curl it. When I curl it, I lose close to half of the length. WHAT?! Yeah, you heard that right. I’m finally at a point where I’m happy with the length. Another reason I bought this shampoo? It’s safe on color-treated hair. I am OBSESSED with my new hair color. It’s darker for fall and is the perfect brown for my skin tone. I’ve said all of this to say that this shampoo is worth it. I’ve used it three times and wanted to be sure I loved it before I shared. My hair is shiny, healthy, and strong. It also doesn’t get oily after 24 hours! This is not sponsored, I just love it. So anyways, be sure to head to Ulta to grab this shampoo okay?!

If you work in a high-stress environment like me, you will know how important it is to take care of yourself. One place I see major fatigue on my face is my under-eye area. We are talking bags, dark circles, puffiness. You know those people who say “Oh wow, you look tired today”…um thanks? Like why do I need to you tell me that? Anyways, I highly recommend the Skyn Iceland Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels. This product is top 3 must-have ever. SO many people use these, and I’m glad I gave them a try. Immediately, you will feel a cooling sensation that is so relaxing. It’s almost like I feel the stress melting away. And firming…they actually firm my under-eye area. Again, I wouldn’t share them if I didn’t love them. I’ve already used 10 sets of these eye gels, so trust me…they work!

I hope you enjoyed this (random) life update! I would love to hear what y’all are up to. Also, I would love to hear any recommendations on beauty must-haves for fall/winter. Thanks for reading!

XO,

Rebekah

  1. I’m a Panthers fan unless I’m watching the Falcons and Panthers play. My heart becomes divided. I was born and raised in GA and was a Falcons fan for years until we moved to SC and later the Carolina Panthers were born. Since the Falcons won, I’m siding with them. :) My husband says I can’t do that, but I did.

  2. I love these recap posts. It’s a great way to get a peek into the life of the blogger I read. I haven’t really watched most of the shows you’re watching. I’m more of a Walking Dead girl.

  3. I have never been to Arkansas! It looks like I need to take a trip there! Those pictures are GORGEOUS! We are exploring this fall a lot of places and I can’t wait to see them!

  4. I’m a huge football fan, but I’m a Seahawks and Clemson fan. We used to go to Petit Jean State Park in north western Arkansas when my kids were children. It’s a great place to visit especially on the 4th of July. Lots and lots of kid friendly activities!

  5. Great post and stunning photos!!! I love reading about travel updates and taking care of yourself. I work as a technical writer and understand stress! Thank you for sharing!

  6. Sounds like life is good! I hope Arkansas is a great experience, these photos are gorgeous.

  7. So much you have going on, I love the photos from where you were exploring, those are beautiful. I am glad to read this update. Have a wonderful week!

  8. What gorgeous pictures! I love life update posts, they are so fun to read! Thanks for sharing this girl! :)

  9. Omg I need to try the eye gels. My face has been actually feeling puffy when I wake up even around my eyes. My two toddlers haven’t been sleeping well and it shows in my face. I look like crap. Lol.

  10. Great update. I love NCIS as well. One of my favorite shows. I love Blue Bloods too. Great stuff!

  11. I’m using Skyn Iceland Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels as well and it is really cool product. I will try that shampoo as well!
