Memphis Road Trip Recap

Hey y’all! I hope your February is off to a good start! I can’t believe we are already halfway through the month. Like literally, WHERE does time go? Last weekend I met up with my BFF’s Ricci & Jenn in Memphis. We were actually celebrating three different events: Ricci’s birthday, the Fifty Shades Darker premiere, and the passing of my pharmacy boards. That’s right, I’m an officially registered pharmacist! We had been planning this trip for a while, and it didn’t disappoint!

Ricci & I met up in downtown Memphis Friday for lunch and headed to Huey’s. I personally loved this spot because I got a yummy “California” burger with avocado on it. YUM!

We then walked around downtown/Peabody Place for a little bit before checking in to our hotel. If you have never been inside the Peabody Hotel, you have GOT to go. It’s so beautiful inside and the ducks wading in the fountain are so cute!

After we checked into our hotel, we just rested for a while before meeting Jenn at the mall for dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. Since we had been doing Whole 30, this was a welcome change to our diet. We might or might not have eaten a little more than we probably should ;)

If you don’t know the back-story, I met Jenn & Ricci through blogging. We constantly joke because the first time we met was on a road trip and we are thankful we didn’t turn out to be complete weirdos. Well, we are weird, but you know what I mean! Friday night we had a wild night let me tell you…we went back to the hotel and did clay masks! Here’s the evidence…

Saturday we had big plans to go to Graceland. I was a little bit apprehensive, because I never really got into Elvis. However, the trip and tour turned out to be a blast! We got to tour Elvis’s home, racquetball court, garage full of cars, and jumbo jet. Of course I was the tourist on my phone googling Elvis facts the entire time. I never knew he had a stillborn twin brother OR the fact that he actually died at Graceland. I would highly recommend the tour to get to know more about this American icon. PS the meditation garden was my favorite part…be sure to check it out just near the pool in his backyard.

DID you know that Elvis had the cutest pink Jeep? I suspect it was purchased for his wife or daughter. It was so adorable and I want it!

Saturday night we did a little shopping at Sephora and I grabbed this, this, and this!

We then headed to see Fifty Shades Darker. If you have seen it, let me know in the comments and we can discuss!

If you know us, you know we pack a lot of plans into one weekend. Sunday morning we got up and headed to the Majestic Grille in downtown Memphis for brunch to celebrate Ricci’s birthday! OKAY the Majestic is amazing. The décor is very old-timey and charming. It almost reminds me of like Miami/Cuba back during the 50’s. They have palm trees, cool lights, and show old movies on the big screen. We had a yummy flatbread that I would highly recommend:

We then finished our weekend at IKEA. I had made a “shopping list” on the IKEA app, and I was so thankful I did. I highly recommend doing this before visiting the store. It’s such a large store that it can easily be overwhelming. I grabbed two cabinets, a new lamp, a utility cart, and several décor items. I cannot wait to show you the two rooms I am redoing at the moment. I will share the process here and on my Instagram. Be sure to follow along!

Thanks for reading & please let me know your fave things to do/see in Memphis in the comments below.

XO,

Rebekah

  1. It sounds like you had a great trip! I think I would love that hotel. I’m originally from West Virginia and there is a mall there in Parkersburg that has two ponds with ducks inside of it. I’m not sure if it’s still there, it’s been a long time since I’ve been back, but when I was young I thought that was just the coolest thing.

  2. Oh my gosh! What a fun girl’s trip!! I’m kinda jealous. I’ve never been to Memphis and I really want to go sometime. I love that pink jeep. It’s so cool that it’s sorta stuck in time.
