Happy Monday! AND I’m so thankful for some sunshine today. I’ve really been getting into the spring spirit lately, even though the season doesn’t actually start until later this month. We can never be too prepared though, right? I wanted to start a series here on the blog: The Guide to Spring. As we go, I will share round-ups in different categories, and today’s is all about spring shoes!

I have been trying to re-do my spring shoes collection and be sure I have all of my bases covered. Nothing is worse than the CUTEST outfit without the perfect pair of shoes…am I right ladies? ;) When I went to Seattle, I got a litttttle crazy in Nordy’s so I thought I’d share the shoes I picked up while I was there. Also, I’ll share some other popular pairs I’ve seen on social media and in magazines.

Birkenstocks

Just go ahead and scroll now if these aren’t your style. As far as I’m concerned, these are a staple here in the South. I can remember wearing Birkenstocks way back in jr. high, and I would always get a new pair when I would travel to Florida with my grandparents in the summers. You could pretty much call us the Birkenstock family, because we all had multiple pairs. Birkenstocks are classic. If you choose the right pair, it will be your go-to neutral sandal and a favorite in your closet. I LOVE the soft footbed pairs, and I like how they mold to my feet.

Flats

Is there any better combo than a pair of flats + leopard? No. Leopard is honestly my favorite neutral. I’ve had several pairs throughout the years, but I’m loving this current pair. The pointed toe really adds that little something extra to really make these leopard flats pop.

Tennis Shoes

Pastels, including blush + lilac, are VERY popular this spring. I have always been a New Balance 574 lover. I had the gray pair all throughout high school and college. These are such a classic look, and I’m loving the blush pink for spring! Pair them with yoga pants, jeans, or even white jeans for a cute look.

I am actually pretty proud of myself for getting three distinctly different pairs that I feel go with just about any outfit I could put together. And be sure when you’re shopping to not neglect a couple of black pairs, because you never know when you’re going to need them.

Speaking of shoes, I picked up this pair of espadrilles in Dallas last weekend. Espadrilles are everywhere! I’ll be doing an entire blog post about that shopping trip, so stay tuned ;)

Thanks for reading. Be sure to leave a comment on what types of The Guide to Spring posts you’d like to see. I’m thinking rainy day must-haves, how to wear lilac, etc.

Happy (almost) weekend y’all. I really am sorry that I haven’t been more consistent here on the blog. I have 4 days off in March and no trips planned just so I can get back in the swing of things! I also have to get my taxes done…BLAH. Adulting is no fun sometimes ;) Today I wanted to share one of my favorite haircare/style brands with you and which products I gravitate towards. This post is in no way sponsored, I just happened to have found a brand that I’m fond of for several reasons. Meet Oribe!!!!

Let’s start way back in Jr. High & High School when I had a definite hate relationship with my hair. I ALWAYS wanted straight hair like my friends. It would take me hours to straighten it, and it would immediately go wavy when I walked outside in the Arkansas humidity. I would go from short hair to long hair and back again. I couldn’t ever really grasp a good hair style for myself. THEN I was in the scrunched curls (with LOADS of gel/mousse) phase. They say a picture is worth a thousand words…

First of all, my smile is the EXACT same. Second, just wow…it’s taken me 30 years to get to a place where I can honestly say I LOVE MY HAIR! Granted, I usually just pull it up in a bun for work every day but I love getting a blow out at DryBar when I’m in Dallas. I’m going to explain more in-depth about my love for the wand I use, but you can shop it here. I have finally figured out how to use it and it creates the most beautiful beachy waves with straight ends…my FAVE!

Back to the brand I wanted to talk about today, Oribe. If there’s a hair care brand on the market, I’ve most likely tried it. I don’t just use one brand on my hair, but I do use several products from several brands. I thought I would share those here on the blog. Specifically today, let’s talk about three issues that Oribe helps me solve:

Dry, Itchy Scalp

products: shampoo + conditioner + leave-in treatment

Oribe just released this new line of “Serene Scalp” products. When I was in Seattle, I tried to find them but no one had them in stock yet. I ordered from the Oribe website immediately and they came in soon after I got home. I guess I never realized how dry my scalp had become until I saw some dandruff on one of my black shirts that I was wearing. I honestly think my hair has become more dry as it’s gotten longer, which makes sense. I use this shampoo and conditioner once weekly and alternate with a moisturizing shampoo + conditioner. This leave-in treatment is hands down my favorite product I’ve used in 2018 so far. It’s got a cooling effect that allows your scalp to relax! It feels amazing after a long day. After I brush out my freshly washed hair, I apply a small amount to several sections of my scalp and rub in. It actually didn’t cause my hair to become oily and it helped relieve itchiness and dryness in just one use.

Frizzy, Messy Curls

products: curl mousse + texture hairspray

I do still occasionally like to wear my natural curls, especially in the spring when it’s humid and rainy. As my hair has gotten so long, it tends to look messy and unkempt if I don’t use product on it. I apply this curl mousse to dry hair (after letting my hair air dry overnight). I have to use four or five pretty good handfuls to cover all of my hair. I then flip my head over and spray with the texture hairspray. Feel free to use a diffuser if you want, or just scrunch and go! These two products help my hair combat frizzy-ness.

Heat Damage + Dullness

products: soft lacquer

This spray is a two-in-one gem! It’s just sticky enough to hold a style when using a hot tool. When I want to create those classic curls (with a wand), I spray each section and style as normal. It creates beautiful shine without adding a heavy oil to your hair! I like to think of this product as the “top coat” like you would nail polish.

Even though they aren’t hair products, be sure to try the perfume + body wash as well. Every Oribe product has the signature “cote d’Azur” scent which is like Heaven! It’s a blend of bergamot + white butterfly jasmine + sandalwood.

You can shop all of the products I’ve talked about here:

I hope you guys like these kind of posts. I will be sure to share other brands I’m loving with you, too! Thanks for reading & have a great weekend.

Rebekah

This post has been sponsored by Smitten Scrubs on behalf of Acorn Influencers. All opinions are my own.

Today I wanted to share a different type of post. I wanted to take you into my every day life and show you insight into my daily job as a pharmacist. Don’t get me wrong…I LOVE being a blogger, but I believe that God placed me in a career that I was made for.

I started working in a pharmacy way back in 2006 during the summer before I started college. An elder at my church owned a (cute) community pharmacy on the square in my hometown. He was kind enough to offer me a job and the rest is pretty much history. I fell in LOVE with pharmacy. But more than that, I fell in love with the patients that I got to help on a daily basis.

There’s something to be said for community pharmacy, because it’s just that…a community. We become more like family. Here’s what being a pharmacist means to me:

A shoulder to cry on

Being a pharmacist is one of the most rewarding professions I know of. I get to be the person that others come to for advice. I have seen people bring in prescriptions from all walks of life…from antibiotics to chemo drugs. Because my mom died with cancer, I believe I can be that shoulder to cry on should one of my patients (or family members) be diagnosed with cancer.

A friend to talk to

Sometimes people just need some to talk to. I have the distinct ability to be able to communicate with my patients about how or why they are being prescribed a certain medication. I get to help people discover ways to better themselves. It’s so amazing to see someone smile when you help them understand medication.

An advocate to lean on

Navigating an illness can be difficult, because I’ve known this firsthand seeing my mom and my grandma sick. However, as a pharmacist, I can be an advocate for my patients to lean on. I’m only a phone call away, and they feel comfortable leaning on me.

As a pharmacist, scrubs have become my go-to outfit! I’m wearing the Smitten Scrubs in my photos. Can we say flattering?! Landau has become the brand for me due to the high quality and durability. When I’m confident in my appearance, that gives me confidence in my ability to be a great pharmacist. I love my patients and my job is very important to me.
