Happy Tuesday! I’m so excited to share my graduation trip from last year with you today. I’m so sorry it’s SO SO late, but I’m finally getting back into blogging more that I’ve got my schedule down pat. My dad took me to New Orleans, and it was so fun!

New Orleans Pharmacy Museum:

Since I am a pharmacist, I had a great time visiting the New Orleans Pharmacy Museum. And let me tell you…there were some crazy finds inside. We are talking tinctures of all kinds, cocaine toothache drops, and opium tampons. Even if you’re not a pharmacist, the museum is super cool!

I really enjoyed seeing the writing from pharmacists back in the day. It was such an amazing experience to see how my profession has evolved over the years.

I stayed at the Ritz Carlton in the French Quarter. I highly recommend this hotel for location and superior service. I had stayed at a couple of Ritz Carlton hotels in China, but it’s great to stay at one here in the US. We stayed on the club level which provided daily food offerings throughout the day in the Club Lounge. I ate breakfast in the Lounge each morning and snacks were available throughout the day. The rooms were well-appointed with gorgeous garden decor.

My favorite part of the hotel was the beautiful courtyard! It had pretty statues & lights where I would wind down each evening.

Where I Ate:

Chophouse: If you know me, you know I live for a good steakhouse. I am SUPER picky about meat, and I will hardly eat it without knowing what I’m getting myself into. After searching for a steakhouse on multiple sites, I chose the Chophouse. It did not disappoint! I recommend the filet mignon & onion rings. Also for appetizer, try the thick cut bacon.

The Rum House: This restaurant calls itself a “caribbean taqueria”. Y’ALL. These tacos were to-die-for! It’s located on Magazine Street, which was a quaint little section of town. I really enjoyed the location. I recommend the Carolina BBQ or the Buffalo Soldier taco.

Where I Shopped:

Another one of my favorites on Magazine Street was Kendra Scott. It was so cute outside and more beautiful inside. Can we say decor goals?! It was gorgeous!

I think I need to take another trip to NOLA just to shop. I’ve heard good things about the Shops at Canal Place. If you have any recommendations, let me know!

Tips:

Stay in the French Quarter! It’s within walking distance to everything. You will want to walk everywhere, because streets are narrow and parking is scarce.

It gets HOT. I visited in early May and it was so hot y’all. I literally felt like I was walking through an oven when I would step outside. If you have naturally curly hair like me, that’s the way to go! I didn’t plan on straightening my hair and that was the best idea I’ve ever had. You’re so close to the ocean that it’s super humid, so plan accordingly ;)

Visit the St. Louis Cathedral! You can hear music all around Jackson Square, and it immediately transports you into the NOLA culture. Also, be sure to walk across the street to the observation area to photograph the cathedral in its entirety. Cafe du Monde is right next door, so be sure to check it out for yummy beignets.

Have you ever been to New Orleans?
