Fall Foliage: Southern Vermont Road Trip

Vermont is a pretty small state, but there was so much to see. I kind of split my road trip into two parts: Northern and Southern Vermont.

In Southern Vermont, I visited so many cute little towns. Here’s the order that I went in on this particular day:

Brattleboro > Guilford > Whitingham > Readsboro > Wilmington > Dover > Grafton

In Guilford, be sure to check out the Green River Covered Bridge and area surrounding it. It was gorgeous! And the sound of the water is so relaxing.

Readsboro was quite small, but I loved seeing the surroundings. Since I was traveling solo, if I wanted to stop and get a picture, I did. It was nice to just be able to take in the foliage on my drive.

Wilmington ended up being one of my top 5 towns I visited. There was a lot of traffic, and it was definitely the place to be. The downtown area is adorable! The White House Inn is set atop the hill when heading into town and you can see for miles!

Some of the best foliage I found in the state was near Dover. Mount Snow is a ski town located near Dover, and I would LOVE to visit in the winter. I actually ended up taking the ski lift to the top of the mountain to check out the foliage from above. What a view!

All this driving and only snacking during the drive made me hungry! I had dinner at Phelps Barn at the Old Tavern in Grafton and it was adorable! I’ll do an entire post on this meal, but for now, here’s a couple of pictures.

TIP: cell phone service is lacking as you get deep into Vermont, so be sure to enter your destination list into Google maps before you leave!

I cannot recommend a Vermont fall foliage road trip enough. Photos will never do the foliage justice. You HAVE to go see it in person.

XO,

Rebekah
