Hey y’all! I hope everyone had a great weekend. I wanted to share something that has really been on my mind lately. If you don’t know me in real life, this will be news to you since I hadn’t shared it on the blog yet. About a year ago, my grandma was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia. Without going into too much detail, it is a form of dementia that causes mental decline over time. It gets worse with time and can be very frightening. I was contacted by Bay Alarm Medical to see if I would be willing to try out one of their alarm systems, and I felt like God really put it on my heart to share today’s post.

As you know, I graduated in May from pharmacy school. I took a job back home, so I have moved in with my grandparents for the time being. There are a lot of reasons for this, but I prayed a lot about it and I felt that it was what I should do. I’ve been a roller coaster of emotions since I moved in. Some days are easier than others. There have been days that I was scared that something might happen to my grandma. For the sake of the family, we needed reassurance that there was something that could be done. This is where Bay Alarm Medical comes in.

They sent me a kit to use in the home. This version requires a landline. Keep in mind that a different version available works with a cell phone. It came with several ways to get help. It came with a bracelet, necklace, a small button (can be wall-mounted), and a large button (great for desktop).

For me, it was important that the buttons be placed where my grandma spends the most time. The small button was placed on the table by her la-z-boy and the large button was placed on her bedside table. Since the bracelet/necklace provide security on-the-go, I chose to place the buttons somewhere I thought she could access when sitting or laying down if need be.

It also came with a refrigerator magnet:

This card is slipped inside the plastic refrigerator magnet and provides pertinent medical information about your family member. I know how important medications are, so it provides a nice area to put medications down. IMPORTANT: this card should be kept somewhere that is easy to find. This way, emergency medical personnel can easily find it and contact the person listed as the “emergency contact”.

I especially love this in-home kit, because if my grandma was to get down and need help while one of us is around, we can run to the nearest button and push it for help.

There are a lot of things my grandma cannot comprehend at this point. With the necklace or bracelet, she can understand that if she needs help, all she has to do is push the button. I really like that the small and large button have HELP written in large letters on a red background.

There is NO greater feeling than knowing my grandma is safe. The reassurance that Bay Alarm Medical provides is life-changing. I cannot thank them enough for making this transition a little easier.

Know this: if you know someone with Alzheimer’s or Dementia, you are not alone. I want to be someone that you can talk to and share experiences with. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about the disease or about the Bay Alarm Medical company & its products.

Thank you for reading!

Thanks to Bay Alarm Medical for sponsoring today’s post. As always, all thoughts & opinions are my own.

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you have all had great weekends. My Razorbacks & my Dallas Cowboys both won this weekend, so I’m waking up smiling ;) I take football very seriously. I thought I would write a “life update” post and tell you all what I’ve been up to lately. One of my favorite things is reading blogs that contain real life info. I love seeing how people in different parts of the country live and what everyone does on a daily basis and for fun. So here we go…

Places I’ve Been Exploring

As you read last week, I wrote about Fayetteville. I haven’t taken any other trips lately, but I did decide to explore locally to take a few pictures. I stayed in Northwest Arkansas, and the scenery did not disappoint. I think it’s easy to wish I lived somewhere else. Lately, I have been questioning whether I made the right move after pharmacy school. I think I also have to realize that God has a plan. For right now, it’s Northwest Arkansas for me and that is just fine. Here are a few photos I took:

Plans I’ve Been Anticipating

I’m so excited, because this month I’m headed to Texas Tech Homecoming with Ricci. Did we go to Texas Tech? No. Are we in any way affiliated with Texas Tech? Also no. But have you seen Texas Tech’s head football coach? Kliff is hot. That’s really all you need to know. We are on the third row right behind the bench, so don’t worry…I will provide you all with some pictures of the game him. Also, it’s super fun to get out of town and have a weekend away. I’m young, I’m single and I want to travel. We will also be flying in & out of Dallas and we all know that’s my favorite city. Do we already have brunch planned for that Sunday? Yes.

As far as November goes, Jenn is headed to Arkansas to visit us! I’m excited to reunite with my BFF’s. If you want to read more about our last trip together, check out my Nashville recap. It’s fall y’all, so I can’t wait to celebrate cooler temps! It’s also possible that I might head to Dallas for the Cowboys game on Thanksgiving. We will see how it plays out and if dad feels up to it.

Shows I’ve Been Watching

For me, fall TV is a welcome change to the lame summer television shows. On Mondays, I’ve been watching The Big Bang Theory & parts of Dancing with the Stars. There is no way in the world that I can sit down for 2 hours and watch a show, so usually I just watch Maks dance. On Tuesdays, it’s all about NCIS. If you know me in real life, there isn’t much else that needs to be said. This is the 14th season, and Michael Weatherly said goodbye at the end of last season. It was almost “McDreamy like”, but they didn’t kill him off so he can come back (hopefully). Also, be sure to catch Chrisley Knows Best on Tuesdays if you want a good laugh. It’s absolutely hilarious. On Thursdays, I have recently started watching Project Runway. I’m late to this year’s party, so I’m playing catch up. I have a serious crush on Zac Posen, so it doesn’t hurt that he’s a judge this year. He is my favorite designer of all time. And for the weekend, you know I’m all about football. Do y’all watch any of these shows?

Beauty Products I’ve Been Using

I only threw this category in while I’m sitting here looking at my hair glistening in the light from my lamp. I decided I had to share the new shampoo I’ve been using. I saw this Biolage shampoo in the Ulta ad this week, and I decided to try it. A few years ago (when I was washing my hair daily), there’s no way I would have purchased a $25 shampoo. However, since I wash my hair twice a week (maybe three if need be), I decided to bite the bullet. I have worked HARD for 2 years growing my hair out. My hair is pretty hard to work with…meaning that it gets SO SO tangly. Trust me, I’ve tried everything. The wet brush, the detangler, the leave-in shampoo. I have come to terms with it :) Naturally, my hair is wavy and thick. I have grown it out for one simple fact: the look when I curl it. When I curl it, I lose close to half of the length. WHAT?! Yeah, you heard that right. I’m finally at a point where I’m happy with the length. Another reason I bought this shampoo? It’s safe on color-treated hair. I am OBSESSED with my new hair color. It’s darker for fall and is the perfect brown for my skin tone. I’ve said all of this to say that this shampoo is worth it. I’ve used it three times and wanted to be sure I loved it before I shared. My hair is shiny, healthy, and strong. It also doesn’t get oily after 24 hours! This is not sponsored, I just love it. So anyways, be sure to head to Ulta to grab this shampoo okay?!

If you work in a high-stress environment like me, you will know how important it is to take care of yourself. One place I see major fatigue on my face is my under-eye area. We are talking bags, dark circles, puffiness. You know those people who say “Oh wow, you look tired today”…um thanks? Like why do I need to you tell me that? Anyways, I highly recommend the Skyn Iceland Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels. This product is top 3 must-have ever. SO many people use these, and I’m glad I gave them a try. Immediately, you will feel a cooling sensation that is so relaxing. It’s almost like I feel the stress melting away. And firming…they actually firm my under-eye area. Again, I wouldn’t share them if I didn’t love them. I’ve already used 10 sets of these eye gels, so trust me…they work!

I hope you enjoyed this (random) life update! I would love to hear what y’all are up to. Also, I would love to hear any recommendations on beauty must-haves for fall/winter. Thanks for reading!

Happy (long) weekend everyone! It’s definitely been a while since I have posted here on the blog. But don’t worry, because I’m BACK! I finally graduated pharmacy school, and that is a huge accomplishment in my life. I’m thankful for the journey but definitely excited to be done. I take my NAPLEX board exam on July 7th!

I have been dreaming and planning a sort of “blog relaunch” around here, so get ready! On this long weekend, I’m taking what I call a “blogcation”. I am staying in a hotel for a few nights to solely focus on my blog. (It doesn’t hurt that I’m obsessed with staying in hotels anyway ;))

I recently traveled to New Orleans and I have 5 posts lined up to share with you about that trip. I also have recently discovered several beauty products to share that are perfect for the summer!

Also, I have been loving photography lately. I took several shots of my university that I will share here on the blog in the coming weeks. I will also share some photos of a nearby lake/river that I enjoyed photographing.

As far as social media goes, I have decided to focus mainly on Twitter + Instagram. Be sure to follow me there for fun updates on everyday life!

For products I’m loving and currently using, be sure to check out my liketoknow.it.

Now for the fun part, I would like to give 3 lucky readers a $25 gift card to their choice of either Starbucks or Nordstrom. Giveaway will end next Saturday, June 4th at midnight CST. Enter using the Rafflecopter below:
