Hey y’all! I hope you had a great weekend. I took it easy as I had to work 6 days last week and 6 this week. I’m totally exhausted at this point! I have so many posts in the works and I’m still playing catch up. This post is actually from my weekend away for New Year’s. I decided to take it easy this year and head to Oklahoma City for a weekend of relaxation & “me time”. It worked out so well and as it turns out, there’s a lot of fun things to do/see in Oklahoma City. I’m going to do a couple of posts on OKC. For today though, I wanted to share three of my favorite “girly” things I did in OKC:

Nail Salon: Polished Nail Salon on Memorial Road

First and foremost, I read reviews on all nail salons before I go there. I usually check multiple sites: Yelp, Facebook, and Google. I am VERY picky when it comes to cleanliness of a nail salon. I will not go there if I don’t feel good about the reviews I read. I was VERY pleased to find Polished was super clean. I got my eyebrows waxed here as well. It’s always nice to go to a salon where you can get multiple services done. I also got a pedicure and a gel manicure. The staff was super friendly and I highly recommend this nail salon! The decor is also gorgeous ;)

Blowout Bar: Lush Blow-Dry Bar in Nichols Hills

Okay! This was an amazing experience. This blow-out bar uses strictly Oribe products. If you’ve never used them, you HAVE to try them. They smell amazing are really work well for my hair. They can also do makeup at this location and the girls really know what they are doing. Since it was New Year’s, I’m glad I scheduled early online. It’s super helpful and you can choose your appointment time. Be sure to visit their website! Here’s a photo of the front:

Um HI?! How cute is that aqua front door? I even had to snag some Oribe hairspray & heat protecting spray! These products are super hard to find in small town Arkansas, so I have to grab them when I see them. If you love Oribe, comment below & let me know what your fave product is!

Shopping: I will be honest, I found WAY more shopping than I thought I would. There are a couple of malls: Quail Springs and Penn Square, but that’s the just the beginning.

Penn Square Mall: I have no LUSH cosmetics anywhere around me, so I have to visit anytime I see one. I might or might not have stocked up on ALL the bath bombs. I seriously can’t get enough of them. I also swung by Vera Bradley, because they were having an amazing sale! I grabbed this makeup case & this cosmetic bag! I’m in love with both of them. I love the print, because it’s so classic.

Luxe Objects: I found the cutest shop ever in Nichols Hills. We are talking pink Christmas trees, adorable sunnies, and the cutest home decor! I am so obsessed with this store from the outside all the way inside. Be sure to check them out on Instagram!

You can also find pretty much any other store you need in OKC. There’s Kendra Scott, Ulta, Sephora, TJ Maxx, and more. Y’all have to understand that I have literally ZERO shopping in my town. We are getting a Hobby Lobby this spring, and you would think we have all died and gone to Heaven ;) When I go on a road trip, I make a list and get all my shopping done in one weekend. If you have all these stores in your town, you are LUCKY! Be sure to check out the Nichols Hills area, because it’s adorable! They even have a Trader Joe’s. Again, we don’t even have Trader Joe’s in Arkansas, so this was a luxury for me.

Shopping Details:

I would love to hear your favorite “girly” things to do on road trips! In your opinion, where is the best shopping?! Comment below.

Hey y’all! I hope your February is off to a good start! I can’t believe we are already halfway through the month. Like literally, WHERE does time go? Last weekend I met up with my BFF’s Ricci & Jenn in Memphis. We were actually celebrating three different events: Ricci’s birthday, the Fifty Shades Darker premiere, and the passing of my pharmacy boards. That’s right, I’m an officially registered pharmacist! We had been planning this trip for a while, and it didn’t disappoint!

Ricci & I met up in downtown Memphis Friday for lunch and headed to Huey’s. I personally loved this spot because I got a yummy “California” burger with avocado on it. YUM!

We then walked around downtown/Peabody Place for a little bit before checking in to our hotel. If you have never been inside the Peabody Hotel, you have GOT to go. It’s so beautiful inside and the ducks wading in the fountain are so cute!

After we checked into our hotel, we just rested for a while before meeting Jenn at the mall for dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. Since we had been doing Whole 30, this was a welcome change to our diet. We might or might not have eaten a little more than we probably should ;)

If you don’t know the back-story, I met Jenn & Ricci through blogging. We constantly joke because the first time we met was on a road trip and we are thankful we didn’t turn out to be complete weirdos. Well, we are weird, but you know what I mean! Friday night we had a wild night let me tell you…we went back to the hotel and did clay masks! Here’s the evidence…

Saturday we had big plans to go to Graceland. I was a little bit apprehensive, because I never really got into Elvis. However, the trip and tour turned out to be a blast! We got to tour Elvis’s home, racquetball court, garage full of cars, and jumbo jet. Of course I was the tourist on my phone googling Elvis facts the entire time. I never knew he had a stillborn twin brother OR the fact that he actually died at Graceland. I would highly recommend the tour to get to know more about this American icon. PS the meditation garden was my favorite part…be sure to check it out just near the pool in his backyard.

DID you know that Elvis had the cutest pink Jeep? I suspect it was purchased for his wife or daughter. It was so adorable and I want it!

Saturday night we did a little shopping at Sephora and I grabbed this, this, and this!

We then headed to see Fifty Shades Darker. If you have seen it, let me know in the comments and we can discuss!

If you know us, you know we pack a lot of plans into one weekend. Sunday morning we got up and headed to the Majestic Grille in downtown Memphis for brunch to celebrate Ricci’s birthday! OKAY the Majestic is amazing. The décor is very old-timey and charming. It almost reminds me of like Miami/Cuba back during the 50’s. They have palm trees, cool lights, and show old movies on the big screen. We had a yummy flatbread that I would highly recommend:

We then finished our weekend at IKEA. I had made a “shopping list” on the IKEA app, and I was so thankful I did. I highly recommend doing this before visiting the store. It’s such a large store that it can easily be overwhelming. I grabbed two cabinets, a new lamp, a utility cart, and several décor items. I cannot wait to show you the two rooms I am redoing at the moment. I will share the process here and on my Instagram. Be sure to follow along!

Happy Thursday! I’m beyond thankful that it’s almost the weekend. Today I would like to introduce you to a new series here on the blog: Travel With Me Thursday. Catchy, huh? This week, I will be starting with a location near & dear to my heart, Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Travel With Me Thursday may cover a town here in Arkansas or a city in Europe or China. The possibilities are endless. I have a fun trip lined up in October, so I can’t wait to share that with you! I had mentioned in Monday’s post that I wanted to blog more about travel, so here we go.

If you’re not from Arkansas, you might know a lot about Fayetteville. It’s located in the far northwest corner of Arkansas and is home to the University of Arkansas. Our mascot is the Razorback and we call the hogs to support our team! WOO PIG SOOIE.

I had actually never spent much time in downtown until the #Megaphone16 blog conference; however, I’m so glad I did because it’s beautiful. I love the tree lined streets and the beautiful town square that gives some much needed shade in this hot, humid Arkansas weather. I will definitely have to head back this fall to see the trees change color, too.

Recently, downtown has added a mural by Alexis Diaz:

{Alexis Diaz is on Instagram here}

If that owl mural isn’t a huge photo opp, I don’t know what is. Next up, the rainbow wall at Maude Boutique. Grab your BFF and head to Maude to do some shopping, then take some photos (or do a snapchat story) behind the store at the Maude Wall.

If it’s football season, you don’t want to miss a game at Donald W. Reynolds Stadium here in Fayetteville. Home to the Arkansas Razorbacks, this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Come see for yourself as we call the HOGS in our cardinal & white. (HOG call video is here!) If you cheer on another team in the SEC, you know that football RULES the fall season and it’s a big deal around here.

Also, be sure to check out Old Main at the University of Arkansas. It’s the oldest building at U of A and is an iconic symbol of Arkansas.

If you happen to be around the downtown square in the spring/summer, be sure to bring your camera. The flowers are beautiful and bright! You might even catch a bee pollinating a flower.

We are so blessed to see all four seasons in Arkansas. Be sure to pack a light rain jacket for the spring and even a fleece jacket for the winter. It’s pretty common to see snow (or even ice) in the winter, so prepare for that. And by the way, summer is HOT and HUMID. Be sure to pack some good hair spray ;)

Downtown Hotel: the Chancellor Hotel

Can we please for a second talk about that ceiling? I want to re-create that in my house SO bad. I was obsessed with that ceiling, and I told everyone I saw :)

“Only in Arkansas” restaurant: Tacos 4 Life

tacos 4 life, arkansas, fayetteville arkansas, tacos 4 life arkansas

Here’s why Tacos 4 Life is amazing: 1 meal is donated for every meal purchased. Meals are sent to Swaziland, Africa, and Honduras. If you know me, you know that Honduras is close to my heart as I’ve traveled there several times on mission trips. It pains me to know that there are starving children in these countries, and Tacos 4 Life is a GREAT way to help others. I’m so thankful for those who started Tacos 4 Life. You can also find Tacos 4 Life in Conway and coming soon to Little Rock.

I hope you enjoyed this post on Fayettevile. I also hope you’re excited for my “Travel With Me Thursday” posts coming to the blog.

If you have any questions about Fayetteville, or Arkansas in general, be sure to email me. My email is listed here.
