Makeup Brush Cleaning!

I have the sweetest girl guest posting today! Her name is Chelsee & she’s all about beauty! Let her tell us how to clean our makeup brushes…I know I don’t do it often enough. Take it away, Chelsee!

Hello Lovelies! My name is Chelsee and I blog over at Southern Beauty Guide. I am so excited to be guest posting today on All That Glitters! Today I am sharing with all of you my makeup brush cleaning method.

There are loads of products that you can use to clean the brushes such as soap, baby shampoo, philosophy purity face wash, and much more. However, I have discovered that this does not always fully clean your brushes. I know that as a makeup artist I go through a ton of brushes a week. I rotate using brushes and wash all the dirty ones every Saturday. Before I started using my current cleaning method I truly thought that my brushes were being fully cleaned, well I was sadly mistaken. I have a super easy and cheap way to take your cleaning up a notch! It is super important to clean your brushes thorough due to the many negative effects that using a”dirty” brushes can cause.

I am sure that many of you have seen the glove that sigma released that is used as a cleaning tool for brushes. Well it is basically an over-sized oven MIT with grips. I am not knocking that this glove works, but I am providing you with a different alternative that works amazing and is super cheap. You see I have found that some of the makeup cakes into the brush and is hard to get out my just swirling your brush in your hand with some soap. Instead I recommend that you use a super affordable tool that you will love. Once you use this you are going to be amazed at how dirty even your clean brushes turn out being.

What do you need to clean your brushes? Well the soap/cleaning agent can vary. I find that I like a cleaning agent that is tough yet gentle on my brushes. Next you need a yellow glove with grips that you would use to wash dishes. I know that you are probably thinking that I am a little Cray Cray by now, but the fact is that the grips are amazing at cleaning your brushes. All I do is add some soap to the glove on the palm of it and the wet my brush and swirl it around on the grips. You will soon see that the soap will change colors and the makeup and residue will start washing out. I suggest that once your glove looks dirty that your rinse the glove and repeat the step until the soap being swirled around maintains its original color. Then rinse your glove and brush out. I then reform the brush using my hand and lay it to dry.
Under $5

That is pretty much it! It is super easy..and the best part that this “glove” is super cheap! I hope that you find that this method of brush cleaning works as great for you as it does for me! This seriously makes my brushes look brand new and I doubt I will be changing my cleaning process any time soon.

Are your makeup brushes squeaky clean?

Thanks so much to Rebekah for allowing me to guest post today! Feel free to stop by my blog and let me know if this works for you!

Thank you so much lovely! Y’all be sure to check out the Southern Beauty Guide & say hi to Chelsee for me!
