Happy Monday! I don’t know why but I always open these posts up telling about the weather. It’s SO cold here in the mornings then it turns like 70 degrees in the afternoon. Talk about a nightmare for how to dress. Layers it is! There’s probably nothing more that I enjoy than beauty products that actually work. In today’s world, it can be easy for a brand to make claims about how amazing a product is. I think that different products work better for different people. I thought I would share my experience with four beauty discoveries I have made thus far in 2018.

{ONE} Herpecin L lip balm

You might remember me raving about this lip balm in this post. Well, I can truly say it’s become a staple in my makeup bag. Since I’m taking better care of my skin (sun-wise), I am sure to bring this with me everywhere! This will protect your lips from the sun, and don’t worry you don’t have to have cold sores to use it. PS you can’t beat the price ;)

{TWO} Oribe Serene Scalp Cream

Since winter, my scalp has become dry + itchy. I had been searching and searching for a scalp product. It literally felt like it was meant to be, because I saw this product on someone’s IG story and I was like WOW I must try that. It’s brand new, and I am in love. It has a cooling mint effect that leaves my scalp healthier and moisturized without causing oiliness.

{THREE} Briogeo Leave-In Mask Spray

This stuff is hands down THE BEST. I have practically BEGGED for help with my tangly hair and I’ve tried everything on the market. This product is the ONLY thing I use now after shampooing, because I can use my wet brush and brush right through my hair. I love the fact that it’s a leave-in mask but I love even more that it’s in a spray form. I don’t have to get my hands all yucky when using it! BUY this now.

{FOUR} NARS concealer

This concealer is my favorite for build-able coverage under my eyes. I use the lightest color (Chantilly) to really get rid of the dark circles. LOVE that it lasts all day and does not cake or crease.

While all of these beauty discoveries may not be new on the market, I have just recently discovered them in the past couple of months. I would love to hear products you’ve found this year! Let me know in the comments.

Happy (almost) weekend y’all. I really am sorry that I haven’t been more consistent here on the blog. I have 4 days off in March and no trips planned just so I can get back in the swing of things! I also have to get my taxes done…BLAH. Adulting is no fun sometimes ;) Today I wanted to share one of my favorite haircare/style brands with you and which products I gravitate towards. This post is in no way sponsored, I just happened to have found a brand that I’m fond of for several reasons. Meet Oribe!!!!

Let’s start way back in Jr. High & High School when I had a definite hate relationship with my hair. I ALWAYS wanted straight hair like my friends. It would take me hours to straighten it, and it would immediately go wavy when I walked outside in the Arkansas humidity. I would go from short hair to long hair and back again. I couldn’t ever really grasp a good hair style for myself. THEN I was in the scrunched curls (with LOADS of gel/mousse) phase. They say a picture is worth a thousand words…

First of all, my smile is the EXACT same. Second, just wow…it’s taken me 30 years to get to a place where I can honestly say I LOVE MY HAIR! Granted, I usually just pull it up in a bun for work every day but I love getting a blow out at DryBar when I’m in Dallas. I’m going to explain more in-depth about my love for the wand I use, but you can shop it here. I have finally figured out how to use it and it creates the most beautiful beachy waves with straight ends…my FAVE!

Back to the brand I wanted to talk about today, Oribe. If there’s a hair care brand on the market, I’ve most likely tried it. I don’t just use one brand on my hair, but I do use several products from several brands. I thought I would share those here on the blog. Specifically today, let’s talk about three issues that Oribe helps me solve:

Dry, Itchy Scalp

products: shampoo + conditioner + leave-in treatment

Oribe just released this new line of “Serene Scalp” products. When I was in Seattle, I tried to find them but no one had them in stock yet. I ordered from the Oribe website immediately and they came in soon after I got home. I guess I never realized how dry my scalp had become until I saw some dandruff on one of my black shirts that I was wearing. I honestly think my hair has become more dry as it’s gotten longer, which makes sense. I use this shampoo and conditioner once weekly and alternate with a moisturizing shampoo + conditioner. This leave-in treatment is hands down my favorite product I’ve used in 2018 so far. It’s got a cooling effect that allows your scalp to relax! It feels amazing after a long day. After I brush out my freshly washed hair, I apply a small amount to several sections of my scalp and rub in. It actually didn’t cause my hair to become oily and it helped relieve itchiness and dryness in just one use.

Frizzy, Messy Curls

products: curl mousse + texture hairspray

I do still occasionally like to wear my natural curls, especially in the spring when it’s humid and rainy. As my hair has gotten so long, it tends to look messy and unkempt if I don’t use product on it. I apply this curl mousse to dry hair (after letting my hair air dry overnight). I have to use four or five pretty good handfuls to cover all of my hair. I then flip my head over and spray with the texture hairspray. Feel free to use a diffuser if you want, or just scrunch and go! These two products help my hair combat frizzy-ness.

Heat Damage + Dullness

products: soft lacquer

This spray is a two-in-one gem! It’s just sticky enough to hold a style when using a hot tool. When I want to create those classic curls (with a wand), I spray each section and style as normal. It creates beautiful shine without adding a heavy oil to your hair! I like to think of this product as the “top coat” like you would nail polish.

Even though they aren’t hair products, be sure to try the perfume + body wash as well. Every Oribe product has the signature “cote d’Azur” scent which is like Heaven! It’s a blend of bergamot + white butterfly jasmine + sandalwood.

You can shop all of the products I’ve talked about here:

I hope you guys like these kind of posts. I will be sure to share other brands I’m loving with you, too! Thanks for reading & have a great weekend.

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend. I had to work half of Saturday, but I think I got a lot accomplished in the afternoon. I’ve got my posts written for this week, so that’s always exciting. Thank you all for your feedback on my outfit post! Stay tuned for this week’s look on Wednesday. Today I wanted to share my favorite beauty/skincare products that you can get at the drugstore. These WAY outperform their more expensive counterpart, so let’s get started!

PSSSST dry shampoo // Maybelline “The Falsies” Push-up Mascara // L’Oreal Pure Clay Mask // Garnier Micellar Water // Neutrogena Hydro Boost Exfoliating Cleanser

Dry Shampoo: Having written about this before, I’m here to tell you (again) that you have to try this PSSSST dry shampoo. I love it for several reasons…it’s cheap, it smells great, and it works! Honestly, I go through probably two cans per month. Should I be embarrassed? Maybe. But I’m totally not! This doesn’t leave a white residue and has the most yummy coconut lime smell. It honestly transports me to the beach every single time I use it. (PS: My everyday scrunchy curls hair tutorial is here)

Mascara: I have a very specific lash problem. My lashes are super long but they are super straight. I find this kind of weird, because I have naturally curly hair. That being said, I found this Maybelline mascara and it works wonders. I apply a coat at the beginning of putting my makeup on, then apply another coat at the end. I definitely recommend this mascara if you need a curling effect. It adds volume as well!

Mask: This clay mask is very affordable, and that’s the number 1 reason I like it. It compares very similarly to a high priced department store version. It has a cooling effect that really feels good on the face, especially after getting home from a long day at work. L’Oreal has perfected its mask game with this product.

Makeup Remover: I give this Garnier micellar water 11 stars out of 10. It is the ONLY product that I’ve ever used that gets ALL of my makeup off without scrubbing my face raw. It is gentle, oil-free, alcohol free, and fragrance free. And for all of my low maintenance babes, you don’t have to rinse! WHAT A WIN.

Cleanser: Formulated without parabens, this Neutrogena exfoliating cleanser provides major hydration to even the driest skin. I love that it’s gentle enough to use everyday and it provides just enough exfoliation! The hyaluronic acid helps plump your skin.
