Happy (almost) weekend y’all. I really am sorry that I haven’t been more consistent here on the blog. I have 4 days off in March and no trips planned just so I can get back in the swing of things! I also have to get my taxes done…BLAH. Adulting is no fun sometimes ;) Today I wanted to share one of my favorite haircare/style brands with you and which products I gravitate towards. This post is in no way sponsored, I just happened to have found a brand that I’m fond of for several reasons. Meet Oribe!!!!

Let’s start way back in Jr. High & High School when I had a definite hate relationship with my hair. I ALWAYS wanted straight hair like my friends. It would take me hours to straighten it, and it would immediately go wavy when I walked outside in the Arkansas humidity. I would go from short hair to long hair and back again. I couldn’t ever really grasp a good hair style for myself. THEN I was in the scrunched curls (with LOADS of gel/mousse) phase. They say a picture is worth a thousand words…

First of all, my smile is the EXACT same. Second, just wow…it’s taken me 30 years to get to a place where I can honestly say I LOVE MY HAIR! Granted, I usually just pull it up in a bun for work every day but I love getting a blow out at DryBar when I’m in Dallas. I’m going to explain more in-depth about my love for the wand I use, but you can shop it here. I have finally figured out how to use it and it creates the most beautiful beachy waves with straight ends…my FAVE!

Back to the brand I wanted to talk about today, Oribe. If there’s a hair care brand on the market, I’ve most likely tried it. I don’t just use one brand on my hair, but I do use several products from several brands. I thought I would share those here on the blog. Specifically today, let’s talk about three issues that Oribe helps me solve:

Dry, Itchy Scalp

products: shampoo + conditioner + leave-in treatment

Oribe just released this new line of “Serene Scalp” products. When I was in Seattle, I tried to find them but no one had them in stock yet. I ordered from the Oribe website immediately and they came in soon after I got home. I guess I never realized how dry my scalp had become until I saw some dandruff on one of my black shirts that I was wearing. I honestly think my hair has become more dry as it’s gotten longer, which makes sense. I use this shampoo and conditioner once weekly and alternate with a moisturizing shampoo + conditioner. This leave-in treatment is hands down my favorite product I’ve used in 2018 so far. It’s got a cooling effect that allows your scalp to relax! It feels amazing after a long day. After I brush out my freshly washed hair, I apply a small amount to several sections of my scalp and rub in. It actually didn’t cause my hair to become oily and it helped relieve itchiness and dryness in just one use.

Frizzy, Messy Curls

products: curl mousse + texture hairspray

I do still occasionally like to wear my natural curls, especially in the spring when it’s humid and rainy. As my hair has gotten so long, it tends to look messy and unkempt if I don’t use product on it. I apply this curl mousse to dry hair (after letting my hair air dry overnight). I have to use four or five pretty good handfuls to cover all of my hair. I then flip my head over and spray with the texture hairspray. Feel free to use a diffuser if you want, or just scrunch and go! These two products help my hair combat frizzy-ness.

Heat Damage + Dullness

products: soft lacquer

This spray is a two-in-one gem! It’s just sticky enough to hold a style when using a hot tool. When I want to create those classic curls (with a wand), I spray each section and style as normal. It creates beautiful shine without adding a heavy oil to your hair! I like to think of this product as the “top coat” like you would nail polish.

Even though they aren’t hair products, be sure to try the perfume + body wash as well. Every Oribe product has the signature “cote d’Azur” scent which is like Heaven! It’s a blend of bergamot + white butterfly jasmine + sandalwood.

You can shop all of the products I’ve talked about here:

I hope you guys like these kind of posts. I will be sure to share other brands I’m loving with you, too! Thanks for reading & have a great weekend.

Rebekah

Happy Wednesday! I’m so happy that we are halfway through this week, because I have the MOST exciting weekend planned.  I am taking a spa day (Christmas gift) on Saturday with my friends followed by the Dallas Cowboys playoff game in Dallas on Sunday! My dad & I are headed down there on Sunday, and I can’t wait! I wanted to share today’s post on my favorite rose beauty products, because TRUST me your skin needs it. I don’t know what is up with this weather. One day it’s 30, one day it’s 70. That’s Arkansas weather for you. That being said, my skin has definitely taken the brunt of the weather. We are talking some DRY skin y’all. Good thing I have my favorite rose products to help me out!

Face mask // Salve (only $5.50!) // Hand cream // Marble tray

If you have sensitive skin, have no fear. I am allergic to several laundry detergents, sunscreens, etc. and these products worked very well for me. I was not allergic to them at all. Here’s how I use each one:

Rose face maskI have a special place in my heart for Peter Thomas Roth beauty products. They are high quality and made from amazingly powerful ingredients. This mask is a combination of five different types of rose stem cells! It has a very “bouncy” texture and goes on super smooth. For the winter, I apply a thin layer as the last step in my skincare routine. I leave it on overnight and wake up with smooth, glowing skin. HINT: pop this jar in the fridge before applying. When you apply the cold gel, it takes your spa night to a whole other level ;)

Rose salve: Don’t think of this as a lip salve only! My BFF, Ricci, used this salve and I actually never thought I would be a fan of it. However, my life was changed when I tried using this on my elbows. I think because I wear a lot of long sleeves in the winter, it just rubs my elbows and causes them to be dry and flaky. (weird, I know) I now apply this rose salve at bedtime to any areas that need extra moisture, and it works wonders. I like to use on my lips, elbows, and heels.

Rose hand cream: I love the Body Shop products. They smell amazing and work well with my skin. Being in the pharmacy all day, I have to wash my hands a lot. They get dried out super easy and the wind we’ve been having lately doesn’t help. This wild rose hand cream comes in handy! It helps moisturize my hands without causing a greasy mess.

SHOP THE POST:

I hope you love rose as much as I do. I would LOVE to hear what your favorite rose products are, so comment below ;) Also, if you know of any great perfumes that have a rose smell, let me know.

Rebekah

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you have all had great weekends. My Razorbacks & my Dallas Cowboys both won this weekend, so I’m waking up smiling ;) I take football very seriously. I thought I would write a “life update” post and tell you all what I’ve been up to lately. One of my favorite things is reading blogs that contain real life info. I love seeing how people in different parts of the country live and what everyone does on a daily basis and for fun. So here we go…

Places I’ve Been Exploring

As you read last week, I wrote about Fayetteville. I haven’t taken any other trips lately, but I did decide to explore locally to take a few pictures. I stayed in Northwest Arkansas, and the scenery did not disappoint. I think it’s easy to wish I lived somewhere else. Lately, I have been questioning whether I made the right move after pharmacy school. I think I also have to realize that God has a plan. For right now, it’s Northwest Arkansas for me and that is just fine. Here are a few photos I took:

Plans I’ve Been Anticipating

I’m so excited, because this month I’m headed to Texas Tech Homecoming with Ricci. Did we go to Texas Tech? No. Are we in any way affiliated with Texas Tech? Also no. But have you seen Texas Tech’s head football coach? Kliff is hot. That’s really all you need to know. We are on the third row right behind the bench, so don’t worry…I will provide you all with some pictures of the game him. Also, it’s super fun to get out of town and have a weekend away. I’m young, I’m single and I want to travel. We will also be flying in & out of Dallas and we all know that’s my favorite city. Do we already have brunch planned for that Sunday? Yes.

As far as November goes, Jenn is headed to Arkansas to visit us! I’m excited to reunite with my BFF’s. If you want to read more about our last trip together, check out my Nashville recap. It’s fall y’all, so I can’t wait to celebrate cooler temps! It’s also possible that I might head to Dallas for the Cowboys game on Thanksgiving. We will see how it plays out and if dad feels up to it.

Shows I’ve Been Watching

For me, fall TV is a welcome change to the lame summer television shows. On Mondays, I’ve been watching The Big Bang Theory & parts of Dancing with the Stars. There is no way in the world that I can sit down for 2 hours and watch a show, so usually I just watch Maks dance. On Tuesdays, it’s all about NCIS. If you know me in real life, there isn’t much else that needs to be said. This is the 14th season, and Michael Weatherly said goodbye at the end of last season. It was almost “McDreamy like”, but they didn’t kill him off so he can come back (hopefully). Also, be sure to catch Chrisley Knows Best on Tuesdays if you want a good laugh. It’s absolutely hilarious. On Thursdays, I have recently started watching Project Runway. I’m late to this year’s party, so I’m playing catch up. I have a serious crush on Zac Posen, so it doesn’t hurt that he’s a judge this year. He is my favorite designer of all time. And for the weekend, you know I’m all about football. Do y’all watch any of these shows?

Beauty Products I’ve Been Using

I only threw this category in while I’m sitting here looking at my hair glistening in the light from my lamp. I decided I had to share the new shampoo I’ve been using. I saw this Biolage shampoo in the Ulta ad this week, and I decided to try it. A few years ago (when I was washing my hair daily), there’s no way I would have purchased a $25 shampoo. However, since I wash my hair twice a week (maybe three if need be), I decided to bite the bullet. I have worked HARD for 2 years growing my hair out. My hair is pretty hard to work with…meaning that it gets SO SO tangly. Trust me, I’ve tried everything. The wet brush, the detangler, the leave-in shampoo. I have come to terms with it :) Naturally, my hair is wavy and thick. I have grown it out for one simple fact: the look when I curl it. When I curl it, I lose close to half of the length. WHAT?! Yeah, you heard that right. I’m finally at a point where I’m happy with the length. Another reason I bought this shampoo? It’s safe on color-treated hair. I am OBSESSED with my new hair color. It’s darker for fall and is the perfect brown for my skin tone. I’ve said all of this to say that this shampoo is worth it. I’ve used it three times and wanted to be sure I loved it before I shared. My hair is shiny, healthy, and strong. It also doesn’t get oily after 24 hours! This is not sponsored, I just love it. So anyways, be sure to head to Ulta to grab this shampoo okay?!

If you work in a high-stress environment like me, you will know how important it is to take care of yourself. One place I see major fatigue on my face is my under-eye area. We are talking bags, dark circles, puffiness. You know those people who say “Oh wow, you look tired today”…um thanks? Like why do I need to you tell me that? Anyways, I highly recommend the Skyn Iceland Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels. This product is top 3 must-have ever. SO many people use these, and I’m glad I gave them a try. Immediately, you will feel a cooling sensation that is so relaxing. It’s almost like I feel the stress melting away. And firming…they actually firm my under-eye area. Again, I wouldn’t share them if I didn’t love them. I’ve already used 10 sets of these eye gels, so trust me…they work!

I hope you enjoyed this (random) life update! I would love to hear what y’all are up to. Also, I would love to hear any recommendations on beauty must-haves for fall/winter. Thanks for reading!
